With everything going on in the world today it’s easy to lose sight of the inspiring work happening around us. A particular inspiration that comes to mind is young entrepreneur Santana Draper, whose eco-friendly fashion company PaperToyClothing creates hip designs for young men and boys, all while fulfilling Santana’s mission to help feed hungry children in the Houston area.
Himself a young artist, Santana came up with the idea for PaperToyClothing after announcing to his mom one day that he’d happily donate some of his possessions to help kids less fortunate than him, stating “You can give them my toys, I can make more out of paper.” In an age where X-Boxes and Androids have most kids’ undivided attention Santana considered other possibilities. Now his “extrapreneurial” idea has morphed into a full-time venture that opened up opportunities for Santana to give back just how he’d imagined. Last month PaperToyClothing announcedthe launch of a new limited edition fashion line and that partial proceeds would go to the organization Kids’ Meals of Houston.
When asked about the goal behind his fashion art, Santana says:
“I WANT TO INSPIRE BOYS AND YOUNG MEN TO ACTION BY PRODUCING WEARABLE ART THAT LIVES WITH YOU.”
