Afropunk Premieres Rev. Sekou’s New Single “Burnin’ and Lootin”

On the heels of his first single “Resist” released last Friday on VICE’s “Noisey”, recording artist and activist Rev. Sekou has debuted another track “Burnin’ and Lootin'” today via Afropunk.

“Burnin’ and Lootin'” is Sekou’s cover of the Bob Marley classic, and captures the feeling of the Ferguson protests. Both “Resist“, an homage to Standing Rock, and Burnin’ and Lootin’” are powerfully embedded with Sekou’s experiences on the front lines of this new intersectional civil rights movement.
Sekou’s forthcoming album In Times Like These (a follow-up to 2016’s The Revolution Has Come) is produced by six-time Grammy-nominated Luther Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars, and will be released on May 5th via Thirty Tigers.
